Ben Nevis, United Kingdom - hiking, fall

A man has died and two others have been hospitalized after climbing Ben Nevis in Scotland amid "ferocious" weather conditions. The man fell almost 1,000ft to his death, while the other two climbers were treated for minor injuries. The rescue teams were called to assist a total of 17 people, including 12 military personnel, to come down from the peak. The rescue mission involved almost 40 rescuers, including members of Lochaber and Glencoe mountain rescue teams and the police. The deputy team leader of the Lochaber team stated that conditions on the mountain were "classic Alpine" with an ice axe and crampons being essential.
