Marcello Silveira, an abseiling instructor, died after falling about 40 meters from the top of Brides Cave in Boranup while facilitating an abseiling excursion with a group of Newman College Year 11 students. The incident was described as an unfortunate accident. The 53-year-old was a well-respected member of the caving society and the community of Margaret River, and he was a loving father to his family. Outdoors WA expressed their condolences to the family, friends, and the local community, and they stated that they would wait for the authorities to complete their investigations before commenting further.
