A mountaineer died after falling from over 300 ft while hiking in the Monte Perdido of Ordesa National Park in Spain. The 49-year-old man's body was found by specialist rescue workers from Boltaña Special Mountain Intervention Rescue Group after they received a notice from his companion. The rescue operation was delayed due to unfavorable weather conditions, and the man was evacuated to a hospital in Huesca, where he later died from critical injuries.

  A climber has been killed in an avalanche on the UK's highest mountain - the first such white death in Scotland in nearly three years. The 49-year-old man was with a fellow climber on Ben Nevis when they plunged nearly 2000 feet on the 4413ft high mountain's North Face.
