Glymur waterfall, Iceland : hiking, fall

A woman in her 20s died after falling approximately 200 meters into the gorge of Glymur waterfall in Iceland. The incident occurred while the woman and her partner were hiking near the waterfall, which is Iceland's second-tallest. The area around Glymur can be hazardous for inexperienced hikers, especially in icy conditions, and lacks safety barriers or chains. Icelandic search and rescue volunteers faced challenges in reaching the site due to ice accumulation. Police are investigating the incident, and efforts are being made to contact the woman's relatives. The incident underscores the need for greater safety measures at tourist sites in Iceland, according to a spokesperson for the Icelandic Association for Search and Rescue.
