East Kootenay, BC - ice climbing, fall

Another ice climber has died in Canada's mountains, just one month after Yosemite ice climber Zach Milligan died while soloing Polar Circus north of Lake Louise. The accident occurred on March 9, when an ice climber fell around 10 meters on Gibraltar Wall, a four-pitch WI4 route that is 25 kilometers up the Kootenay River Forest Service Road. The climber's partner and a worksite ambulance conducted life-saving measures, but the climber eventually succumbed to their injuries. No further details are currently available, and climbers are advised to check avalanche conditions before heading out.
